what is your main focus?

Black Cat Book Nook focuses on Queer fiction and non-fiction. We specialize in Own Voice stories, but will be publishing all works featuring Queer storylines.

what manuscripts do you accept?

We accept all manuscripts, whether from an agent or on your own.

WHAT GENRES DO YOU PUBLISH?

We publish all genres.

DO YOU HAVE A SPECIFIC SUBMISSION WINDOW

We have a rolling submission window which may close periodically depending on submission backlogs.

how do i submit a manuscript?

how long to hear back once submitted?

Currently, we only have two employees, both with full-time jobs. It may take us 4 to 8 weeks to hear a response. Sometimes we may have gotten very busy, we accept reminder emails.

DO YOU charge a reading/publishing fee?

Absolutely not! We do not charge authors for any aspect of the publishing process.

what is your current royalty structure

E-Books: 50% to us; 50% to you
Paperback: 60% to us; 40% to you
Hardback: We currently do not publish hardback
Audiobook: We currently do not publish audiobooks

who retains the copyright/book rights?

You do! When we publish your manuscript, we are only buying the exclusive rights to your manuscript for a set term laid out in a contract.

DO YOU accept ai-generated content?

ABSOLUTELY NOT! AI-generated “books” are not true content from the heart of an author. We absolutely do not accept any AI-generated slop. We have VERY strict contract terms about this.

can i submit to multiple publishers?

Absolutely. We kindly ask that you keep us updated if you are accepted elsewhere so we can remove your manuscript from our backlog.

Congratulations! We will work together with an editor and cover designer to bring your book to life. We will be in touch via email.

where can i buy your books?

We focus on selling our books through the Cat-alogue. While we may publish on other suppliers (like Amazon, Draft2Digital, etc.) the best deal will always be the website shop.

what formats are your books in?

Currently we offer e-books and paperbacks. We are looking into options for hard cover and audiobooks.

do you get your books translated?

We currently have no plans to have any books translated.

are your books going to be in libraries?

We would hope so! You can request any of our e-books on Libby or any other service. While we will submit most of our work ourselves, it also helps to have interest!

can i get signed book copies?

From time-to-time, we may have signed book copies. We will explore this option later on.

what is your shipping policy?

Shipping will be charged on checkout, unless a certain dollar amount qualifies you for free shipping. E-books obviously have no shipping charges attached,
